You supported him and we helped get him elected. It's nice to see a Blue America candidate take it to "the man." Yea, baby. He took it to "the man." The Wall Street man that is. He stuck up for average Americans and UAW workers who have been told that they should tear up their contracts of they want to survive.

Go Gary Peters, go!

“In my Congressional district in Michigan, there are thousands of UAW employees who have employment contracts, and they’ve been told they need to renegotiate those contracts and make concessions to justify taxpayer investments. There are thousands of white collar employees with employment contracts who have forgone promised bonuses and benefits and have taken pay cuts in order to save the companies they work for. People are sick of this double standard where working class and middle class workers are treated differently than the financial industry executives.”

Blue America did the best job of picking winners in the 2008 election and getting out a progressive message to the people I believe then any other PAC out there. I'll post more on this at another time, but to me, picking winners isn't the only goal, progressive values are, but I also love winning and it seems to be working very well for us.

Let the anti-ingratiation clauses dig in!

Need more folks in DC like this guy!

pissed off patricia's picture

And then today we have Evan Bayh telling the world that he and about 13 other dems have joined together as a group of moderate dems to be more middle of the road dems in the Senate. In my opinion, this is the last thing we need.

Say what you mean. Mean what you say. But don't say it mean.

We have to get public finacing bills through the House and Senate. These Blue dogs are bending to the will of lobbyists in exchange for contributions to their reelections.

FloydGeorge104's picture

This is why thr repugs keep winning shit. When the word is you for repugs to vote only one way, they do it. then we get the so called dems, these fucktards just don't get it. why do they call themself Dems. where was evan bayh when bush was selling the US to China, bayh was kissing bushs ass. Now he is not going to support the New President. WTF, if any one said anything about not supporting bushs War &^%&%$&^ I mean bushs WARS, they were trashed. hell I can't keep up with the number of people who are trashing Obama. To all you people who cant rember, it was that war criminal and his crew who put the US in 2 Trillion in the hole, who invaded a country that DID not attack the US, trashed the constution, People are all pissed off about AIG getting bounessss, whell how about this, look at the fucked up job bush did to the US. Now he lives in a 2.1 million dollar house with servants and the tax payer will pay for the rest of his life for a job well done, and this people are ok with. just how fucked can this country get.

If you really want to put a lid on the outrageous salaries and bonuses that the top executives get return the top tax rate to somewhere near the 70% range..

Blue America, not Blue Dogs. I understand your outrage, but Blue America is linked up above. Horse of a different color.

To think that people who work for a living will ever be treated the same as those who profit from their labor.

The Hill: It apparently didn’t matter that taxpayers have provided $170 billion and counting to bail out AIG. Quants,” the people who put together the computer-programmed algorithms behind the complicated hedges and trades that brought down the company, pushed back hard against any notion they should sacrifice their bonuses, the source said. If that doesn’t warm the hearts of taxpayers and lawmakers alike, maybe this will: Many of those receiving bonuses already have made enough money not to have to work again.

On the Morning Joe show, they had on the CEO of Ford, telling everyone about the electric car they are now ready to produce, he was asked where the line is and he said in Mexico, but of course it's made by engineers in Michigan. No one seemed phased by this, and didn't say anything else about it further. The CEO went on several times to tell us about the engineers.

I hate to bring up Henry Ford, but even he knew that giving his workers good wages means that they buy his product.

FloydGeorge104's picture

This is just another CEO fucking over the American worker, I want Obama to put a stop this shit where American JOBS are going south. ford is down ther so they can pay shit money and Still sell there cars for $30 or $40 grand. Fuck the assholes CEo's at ford.

That thinking is soooo pre 9/11.

Sure, a lot of racist comments are to be expected, cause Schwartzer in German means nothing else than ******, I'm Dutch, I know what I'm talking about, bordering Germany.

It's nice to see logic being used on the Hill! When was the last time we saw something like this? Blue America indeed. Now if only the Blue Dogs would just change their name....

I am Frank Chow and I approved this message.

The lawmakers on the hill are worried about WALL STREET ONLY because the SYSTEM OF POWER AND PROFIT they're trying to save is their own. Every single one of them feeds off of Wall Street.

It WORKS FOR THEM. So they want to revive it.

Are you buying?

Is America buying this?

I don't think so.

We need to send the message.

Time for a NEW ECONOMY. A NEW WAY OF LIVING, SCREW WALL STREET AND SCREW INTERNATIONAL TRADE SCHEMES, which are just a way of criminals to hide profits.

Each nation to their own and let us trade in friendly manner.

We don't feed the family down the street before our own and put our savings in another country to keep it safe do we?

Why is it done on Wall Street?

Rene ala carte's picture

It is about time that the Democrats start sending this message. It should be shouted every day for at least the next eight years.

SDGreg's picture

I want Wall Street to suffer like the rest of have been suffering for years.

Higher taxes on bonues of TARP firms should only be a start. There should be much higher taxes on the highest incomes. If Wall Street won't reign in the tremendous disparity in wages between CEO's and ordinary workers, then it should be done through the tax system.

econcurious88's picture

Thank goodness someone's is speaking clearly. OF COURSE Americans are looking for a "shared sense of responsibility"--actually it's more like justice, but at least this gets the point across more clearly than anything else has. That is unbelievable that UAW men and women are compromising their salaries/hours while the guilty business elite at AIG take vacations and receive millions in bonuses. I'll side with Mr. Peters and wait to hear what else Liddy/AIG plans to do about this entire mess.

As a Joe Schmoe working for a company, if you perform poorly or damage the company, you can be fired without notice or a termination package.

They ought to feel lucky to not be in jail.

And it makes me feel good - and proud -- that there are Ordinary Americans out there fighting for the rest of us.
